What a Season - and it continues!!!

The regular league season has drawn to a close and it has been an amazingly successful one for only our second competitive season.

We played 7 league games winning 6 andlosing only 1. We scored 286 points and only conceded 66!! Thats an average score line per game of 40 - 9 in the Barbarian's favor!!

in the 2008 season we set ourselves the task of winning one game - we won 4. This season we set ourselves the objective of reaching the state playoffs. We achieved this last Saturday (4/4/09) and met the Cape Blackhawks from Cape Coral who were second in their league. This was a close and good game but the Barbarians played hard throughout and persevered to the end and won deservingly 15-12. So now.... not only have we reached the playoffs but we have won the first encounter........ the Barbarians wagon is still rolling....

NEW - Calling all 8th Graders!

                                              The 'Junior Barbarians'

For the new 2008/09 season we are forming the 'Junior Barbarians'. This section of the club is being set up for 8th graders to become members of the club, learn the skills and laws of the game and prepare for their entry to full U19 rugby once they get to High School! This is a great opportunity for you to join a Rugby Club early. You will be able to practice and learn the contact game as part of our academy alongside the more experienced players. Come along to practice on a Tuesday or Thursday evening 6-8pm at our field behind Bartels School at 9090 Imperial Oak Blvd, Tampa, 33647.all about.

The dues for the 'Junior Barbarians are only $50 for the season and cover training equipment, club insurance etc. This is a great price for a great sport.

Tampa Barbarians is now registered with USA Rugby and can be found by going to www.usarugby.org  and clicking on the membership link, then club rosters and looking for the team. You also have to be registered with USA rugby in order to play so if you haven't.. and you want to play for the Tampa Barbarians... then you'd better register. This can be done by going to the same website and clicking on Membership and then join USA Rugby. Follow the prompts and when you get to the team affiliation search for Tampa Barbarians.
